Antrim & Newtownabbey Championships Return to Historic Antrim Castle Gardens Next Week

The Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association Northern Ireland Branch is delighted to see the return of the Antrim & Newtownabbey Pipe Band + Drum Major Championships 2026, taking place next week in the stunning surroundings of Historic Antrim Castle Gardens.

The event will be held on Saturday 18 July 2026, bringing bands, drum majors, families, and visitors together for a full day of competition and music in one of Northern Ireland’s most atmospheric heritage locations. The Branch is grateful of Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council for its continued partnership, helping ensure the event remains a highlight of the summer.

This year’s contest once again makes use of the award‑winning gardens and parkland, offering a unique blend of heritage, history, open space, and vibrant performance. As noted in the Branch’s earlier announcement, the venue’s “storied and atmospheric surroundings” create a memorable backdrop as the sound of pipes and drums rises through the historic landscape.

On a visit to the Castle Gardens this week, The Mayor of Antrim & Newtownabbey, Councillor Henry Cushinan — who will be the Chieftain of the Day — said he was looking forward to the event.
