At last night’s Branch Executive Committee meeting, a concern was raised regarding the continued late return of Branch and Section trophies. It was noted that a significant number of trophies, including some from previous years, remain outstanding and have yet to be returned to the Branch or relevant Section.
Particular concern was expressed regarding Memorial trophies, which hold deep sentimental value for the families or bands who have generously donated them. These trophies are intended to be presented annually, and failure to return them prevents this and undermines the respect and recognition they represent.
Despite increased reminders in the last two years with a cooperative and lenient approach from the Branch and Sections, the issue of prompt return has not been satisfactorily resolved, and compliance is now a noted concern.
In accordance with RSPBA rules 4.73 and 4.74 (see below), the Executive Committee has now determined that any band or Drum Major with outstanding trophies will be regarded as suspended until all trophies are returned to the Branch and/or relevant Section.
If a trophy has been lost, it is the responsibility of the Band or Drum Major to provide a like-for-like replacement, at their own expense, fully engraved with all previous winners. While an additional fine in line with the rules was also considered, it was agreed that this will remain a last resort at this time.
Immediate action is now required! All outstanding trophies must be returned without delay.

4.73 Trophies shall be returned clean and in good condition to the promoter before the start of the relevant grade or in compliance with the promoter’s wishes.
4.74 Failing to return trophies clean and in good condition and in compliance with the promoter’s wishes will result in the Band, solo competitor or Drum Major being fined an amount as determined by the Board of Directors and shall be suspended until the fine has been paid to the Company’s registered office or the Branch concerned and the trophy returned to the promoter.
