A Tribute to County Antrim Section Chairperson, Beth Adger MBE
It was with great sadness and shock that the County Antrim Section of The Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association Northern Ireland Branch learned of the death of their friend and esteemed Chairperson Beth on 18th March 2025 following a short illness.
Formally known and highly respected as Alderman Beth Adger MBE, Mayor of Mid and East Antrim, Beth was a tireless and committed member of the County Antrim Section.
Beth was introduced to the County Antrim Section by Alderman Tommy Nicholl MBE, Hon. Vice President of The Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association Northern Ireland Branch, who recognised her organisational skills as a great asset.
Beth’s interest in The Branch grew from her initial association with Seven Towers Pipe Band, Ballymena and in accepting the invitation to work on the County Antrim Section committee, Beth’s prowess came to the fore as she supported, advised, organised and fulfilled commitments over a period of many years. Beth opened her home for committee to meet and her hospitality was both generous and very tasty!
Elected as County Antrim Section Chairperson in 2024, Beth’s kindness, wisdom and energy for ‘getting things done’ was an inspiration. We will miss Beth’s practical approach and humour and will always be so thankful for her friendship, interest and involvement in the County Antrim Section and across the whole Northern Ireland Branch.
Below are some photographs of Beth and her involvement with The Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association Northern Ireland Branch and a video of her taking the Salute as The Chieftain of Day at 71st Ulster Championships, Ballymena in 2022. With thanks to Tommy Nicholl MBE for providing these memories.
