Andrew Duncan, a piper with Bready Ulster-Scots Pipe Band sadly lost his fight to dilated cardiomyopathy on 16th November 2014. At the All Ireland Championships on Saturday 4th July 2015, Bready Ulster-Scots Dedicated a new bass drum in Andrew’s memory.

‘Bertie Campbell, Bready Ulster Scots Pipe Band’s organizer, stated that ‘it has now become the mission of our band to raise the profile on the importance of organ donation. Andrew Duncan was a very talented piper and much loved member of the band. Piping since he was a young boy, we feel we owe it to his memory to stand up and support the excellent work of the British Heart Foundation, especially since it was an organization so close to Andrew. The Duncan family, including his wife Suzanne, children Aimee and Robbie, Andrew’s mother Nan, sisters, nieces and nephew gathered in Omagh Rugby fields for the dedication of this very special bass drum. Andrew’s family were filled with emotion as they seen the band form to march onto the contest, with the bass drum in the centre, baring the logo of the British Heart Foundation in Andrew’s memory. ‘Andrew would have loved’ it stated his family. Having given so much of his life to piping in Bready Ulster Scots it’s great to see the band hasn’t forgotten him.

Andrew sadly passed away on 16th November 2014 after his long fight against dilated cardiomyopathy and kidney failure. Andrew was a very brave, strong, determined and inspirational man who tirelessly worked in raising the profile on organ donation. He was a steadfast campaigner for the work of the British Heart Foundation in which he raised over 2000 pounds just before he passed away in his own marathon walk around the peace bridge and Craigavon bridge in the City. Join Bready Ulster Scots in their mission now to continue this work for Andrew. His wife Suzanne has already attended multiple events organized by the BHF in raising awareness and this is another step on the journey to spread the word. The family wished to express their extreme gratitude to Mr Bertie Campbell and the band for their work in this dedication of the bass drum.
