The Executive Committee of The Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association Northern Ireland Branch was saddened to learn of the passing today of Retired Branch Chief Steward, Mr Brian Harvey.
Brian’s dedication and commitment locally, together with his service nationally will be remembered so fondly by many across our Branch and further afield. After over 30 years service, and following his retirement in 2024, both he and his wife Betty were installed as Life Ambassadors of the Northern Ireland Branch.
Brian’s organised and no-nonsense approach, coupled with his friendly and compassionate manner made him an exemplary volunteer team member -but more importantly, it made him a trusted and great friend to many across the pipe band community.
In Brian’s own words on why he gave his time to the bands for so long, he commented in 2019, “I wouldn’t miss a Saturday, you couldn’t pay me to stay away!”. -true dedication and service. He simply did it for the love of pipe bands and the friendships he made!
He will be missed by so many, and we pass on our deepest condolences to Betty and the rest of the family at this time.
