A charity fundraising concert entitled ‘A Touch of Tartan’ will be held in Greystone Primary School, Antrim, on Friday 6th November at 8 pm. Taking part in what promises to be a great evening of entertainment are Ravara Pipe Band, Ulster-Scots Agency Juvenile Pipe Band, renowned singer, Lynda Lindsay, Michelle Johnston School of Highland Dancing and Ian Burrows & Kenny Qua on Scottish small-pipes, guitar and whistles. The compere will be John Wallace, a member of Waringsford Pipe Band.
The concert is organised by the Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association Northern Ireland Branch (RSPBANI) and all proceeds will go to the President’s nominated charity for 2015 – Friends of the Cancer Centre. Winston Pinkerton, the RSPBANI President, is a recovered cancer patient and the charity is one which is close to his heart. Speaking of the concert which is the final event in a year of fundraising for the Friends of the Cancer Centre, Winston said, “I chose Friends of the Cancer Centre as this year’s charity because as well as having been treated for cancer myself, I am quite sure that most members of each pipe band in Northern Ireland know of someone affected by cancer who has also been treated at the Centre.”
Tickets (£10) are available online at www.rspbani.org or from the Branch Office, (028) 92670445, email info@rspbani.org.
