You could not have picked a better, more stunning backdrop for a pipe band contest than that of the Co Antrim Championships in Glenarm Castle yesterday. It was superb. Something we are not used to sadly, and there were a multitude of things to do and see at Glenarm from Helicopter rides to many diverse forms of music, in fact too many to mention. The vintage vehicles were a great attraction on the side lawn of the castle building and we even had a vintage wedding parade. The Highland games did not dissapoint either, everywhere you looked there was something different to watch or take part in. A huge congratulations from many people on an inspired decision to stage the pipe band championships at Glenarm. I am sure the word will get around on how well people who did attend enjoyed it and we may have made some more pipe band converts in the process. While the number of bands was down on the normal the event did not lack in atmosphere at all and maybe just maybe it will grow just like the Dalriada Festival itself. The Chieftain was so impressed with the event and Lord Dunluce praised the Section on their work with the festival.
