I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone in our Pipe Band Community a very peaceful and joyful Christmas and a successful and happy year ahead in 2016.
Reflecting back over the 2015 competition season our Bands and Drum Majors had great successes at the Major Championships and four of our bands won World titles, Annsborough, Colmcille, Major Sinclair Memorial and Portavogie. Our Drum Majors once again excelled with Brian Wilson MBE and Jamie Cupples winning Drum Major World titles. Richard Black and Matthew Wenlock won World Solo Drumming titles. My heartiest congratulations go to all of you for what you have achieved.
A real highlight of the year has been the tremendous success of our charity raising efforts. The tremendous support shown by all to the Presidents Charity for this year, Friends of the Cancer Centre and to the Co Down Sections fund raising efforts for the NI Children’s’ Hospice is a real demonstration of the tremendous generosity and caring that exists in our community.
I, once again would like to express my gratitude towards you all and wish you and your family a Merry Christmas and a great 2016.
