Cleland Memorial

History

Cleland Memorial are a Bangor based pipe band, formed in 1926.

 

We compete domestically and internationally throughout the year in grade 4a under the Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association, Northern Ireland Branch.

We also participate in many engagements including game fairs, parades & recently joined forces with 3 other pipe bands in a Military Tattoo at Killyleagh Castle to raise funds for the poppy appeal.

Cleland have a long tradition of teaching and tutoring pupils  that are interested in learning any of the instruments involved in pipe bands, some of our former pupils have gone on to play in the worlds top grade bands.

2012 brought us further achivements for our young band members. At the Cullybackey Solos they recieved 1st and 2nd places for U13 piping, 4th place for U16 and 2nd, 3rd, 5th and 6th places for Novice Chanter. At the Ulster Solo Championships they won 1st and 3rd places for U13 piping, 7th place for U16 piping and in the Novice Chanter section, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 6th places. . The young members carried on their great work at the All Ireland Solo Championships were they recieved 3rd and 6th places for U13 piping and 8th place for U16 piping, Gold achievment awards were also awarded for U12 Novice Chanter and U12 drumming.  

 2013.  The young members have again competed in the Cullybackey Solos.  They gained 2nd place in the novice chanter, 3rd in the pipe chanter, 1st and 3rd in the U13 piping and 4th in the U16 piping.
