At the County Fermanagh Pipe Band & Drum Major Championships a new 6/8 march entitled ‘J S Henderson’ was presented to Jim Henderson in recognition of his exemplary service to the Fermanagh Section of the Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association (NI) by the Section Chairman, William Stinson.  Jim has been a founder member of Trillick Pipe Band and is still piping with the band after almost 70 years.  He has and continues to be a wonderful supporter of Pipe Bands in County Fermanagh and Northern Ireland and has served as the County Fermanagh President for 30 years.

The tune was written especially for the occasion by Ian Burrows (RSPBANI Project Manager and Pipe Major of Drumlough Pipe Band).  After the formal presentation, Ian played his new composition in front of the massed bands and the large crowd assembled for the finale.

Included in the photo are Jim’s wife Ruth and also William Stinson, Chairman of the Fermanagh Section of the RSPBANI (left) and Ian Burrows, RSPBANI Project Manager (right).  The section would like to thank John Kelly for capturing the occassion with the photograph.

The Fermanagh Section of the RSPBANI would like to thank all the bands, supporters, branch officials and general public who came along today to support the Section in its endeavors to bring world class drum majors and pipe bands to Enniskillen.  The Section are really delighted at the standards displayed by all of  the bands in every grade, the size of the crowd who attended and most of all that the rain stayed away!  Band and Drum Major results are available here. We hope to see you all back next year.

The County Fermanagh Championship Contest is in Enniskillen at the usual venue, in the grounds of the Lakeland Forum, beside Enniskillen Castle this Saturday, its very close to the town centre.   Drivers should follow direction signs to Sligo, Belleek etc on entering Enniskillen from Belfast and the Lakeland Forum is a left turn at Bus Station just past Erneside Shoppping Centre.  There is parking in the grounds and also in the free public car park in front of the Royal British Legion.  There is further free car parking in the car park beside Castle which is very close to the contest arena. There are also a good number of pay car parks very close.

Fermanagh Council do NOT allow Motor Homes in the Lakeland Forum grounds overnight, our experience is however, that Motor Homes always manage to find somewhere to  park close.

There is an excellent entry across ALL grades and our Section really look forward to seeing you all.

All County Fermanagh Section Bands.

The County Fermanagh section will be holding its AGM on Monday 9th September 2013 at 8:00pm in the Railway Hotel, Enniskillen.

It would be great to see a good turnout of bands  at the Annual General Meeting so that  a large number of piping, drumming and drum majors voices are heard and that the culture is promoted in the Co Fermanagh and wider area.

Do come along, you will be made very welcome.  There might even be a cup of tea and digestive if the funds can stretch that far!
